E111 Summer Intern - Software Developer/System Administrator

Are you looking to gain practical experience in your field of study this
Summer? Would you enjoy working in a "hands on" environment as you
investigate and assess state-of-the-practice commercial products and
emerging information technologies? Are you interested in collaborating
with some of the country's leading systems engineers and technologists
as they work on solving the nation's most complex problems? If so,
MITRE has an opportunity for you!

MITRE's Operational Command and Control (C2) Systems department is
looking for enthusiastic candidates with experience/affinity for
hands-on work as a software developer and/or administrator in a lab
environment. Our department's work portfolio includes various
Department of Defense programs which deliver software-intensive systems
to operating locations worldwide, in support of missions ranging from
humanitarian relief, to homeland defense, to fighting the war on terror,
to supporting combat operations in places like Iraq and Afghanistan.
These systems are constantly being assessed for their performance and
effectiveness, and our MITRE team plays a critical role in guiding
critical system/software upgrades that benefit our operational users.

You will work on a team of systems and software professionals
demonstrating and evaluating state-of-the-practice and state-of-the-art
technologies for critical C2 and military intelligence systems. You
will assist the task leader and collaborate with teammates, industry
contractors, and military customers as you explore net-centric concepts
and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)-based solutions. You will
leverage your strong engineering skills as you actively monitor and
assess trends in industry and government, communicating results/findings
in technical briefings and reports.

Required Skills:

* Ongoing undergraduate or graduate work in pursuit of Computer
Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent degree (3.0+ GPA)

* System Administrator-level knowledge of desktop and server
operating systems to include LINUX, Solaris, and Windows; and
familiarity with open source applications servers such as Apache Tomcat,
Sun Solaris App Server, or any COTS/vendor products of this nature

* Familiarity with deploying applications with J2EE platforms
(e.g., WebLogic)

* Familiarity with Web Services development using
Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) technologies and standard
implementation of WSDL and SOAP over HTTP

* Familiarity with LDAP design, implementation, and
configuration is desirable; as is familiarity with content search and
discovery, directory services, and identity management solutions
