WING -- The Web and Inter-Networking Research Group

About WING
English (USA)

The research work of the Web, Internet and Networking Group (WING) in the Computer Science Department at Boston University is diverse both in its coverage of areas and in the nature of activities undertaken. Research areas range from Internet routing and transport protocols to Web caching and content distribution protocols, from high-performance server architectures to scalable P2P and overlay network designs, and from traditional unicast and multicast IP-based networks to sensor-based and ad-hoc systems. Research activities range from instrumentation and measurement to analysis and characterization, and from resource management and QoS provisioning to system prototyping and deployment.

Led by four faculty members (Bestavros, Byers, Crovella, and Matta), the WING Group involves over two dozen students at the BA, MA, and PhD levels. Members of the WING group work in smaller teams on a number of tightly integrated projects, some of which are in collaboration with other research groups in the department, including the operating systems, network security, database, and software systems groups.

Members of the WING group have access to a wide range of equipment in a number of different laboratories. In addition, a number of courses, seminars, and workshops are often available to members of the group as well as to prospective WINGers!

The WING mailing list is open to members of the research group. To participate in activities that are open to the public, please subscribe to the Network Reading Group list (NRG-l@cs.bu.edu) instead.
